| Message serial numbers |

Please, somebody explain to me the following case.
Google sends XML message to my server's callback URL. AFAIK,
every
message have it's own serial number. But what happens if my
server
replies with 500 HTTP status? I know, that Google will send
the same
XML message again later, but will this message have the same
serial-
number, or different?
Thank you in advance for help.

hi
im pretty sure that the serial number should be different. why? because the idea of the serial number is NOT to identify the data in the message but the message uniquely. So if GC must send one message more than once, it will put different serial-numbers.
Imagen that to the first message u respond with a 500 and the second with a 200, both with the same data, how google will differentiate them if they have the same SN? they are different, both the same data but they dont have the same state.
do u get my point?
hope this helps

It's very good if it's working as you described. But I've
noticed,
that sometimes Google sends exactly the same message more
than one
time. I'm now filtering such a "second copies",
but not really sure -
am I really right doing this.

But I've noticed, that sometimes Google sends exactly the

Then you must not be ACKing receipt of the notification.

Hi
now there is no need to send the ACK XML Message, just returning a HTTP 200 ok will be enough. http://code.google.com/apis/checkout/developer/index.html#responding_to_notifications
so the notif will be resend if u respond with a 5xx or 4xx http status
btw new order notif are NOT resend, they are passed by email
If Google is unable to successfully send a new-order-notification to your API callback URL, Google will send you an email to notify you of the new order.
hope this helps
