Thread: Specify API Callback URL at runtime?

Specify API Callback URL at runtime?

I am just getting started with Google Checkout. I have
managed
integration previously with PayPal and WorldPay. In both of
those
cases it is possible to specify the callback URL at runtime
(as
opposed to hardwiring it into the account settings
>>integration
option). But I can't find how to do that with Google
Checkout.

Is it possible?

no, you have to specify the callback url in the merchant
center

What a pity!

That means you have to create separate Google accounts for
each web
site project. And that in turn means additional accounting
(not just
one but several bank reconciliations).

To my mind this is a big disadvantage of Google Checkout.

Having used both Protx and Worldpay, I agree not being able
to specify
the callback url dynamically is a bit of a limitation.
Ironically you
can specify the "continue-shopping-url"
dynamically, but that only
works if your shopper decides to click it at the end of the
Google
process.

Is there any specific reason for only notifications url to
be set in
the account?

All others urls (edit cart, continue shopping, shipping and
tax
calculations) are specified in API call..

Oh no!

Now, as I look into this, it seems GC restricts you to one
currency!
Is that right?

My early impressions are that Google have not been very
imaginative in
considering the types of business that run web commerce?

Our business is only small, but all the same we deal in
several quite
different categories of product for which we have separate
web sites.
Not only that, the products are in some cases sold in USD,
and in
others GBP! For these modest requirements we need to a)
specify the
callback URL at runtime, and (b) specify the currency ar run
time. All
of which we can do with PayPal or WorldPay. But both are
impossible it
seems with GC! (short of creating multiple Google accounts,
which
would be an accounting nightmare)
