I have just uninstalled the new google earth upgrade. My
personaly
made kmz maps were flashing off and on and it was very slow
on my 1.7 g
pent, 1 gig memory machine. After i unistalled and reloaded
the old
google earth everything works again.
How are other people doing?

I had to run in openGl mode while I had an ATI Xpert 2000
(32Mb video
ram) on an Athlon 2500+ with 512Mb ram. The icon menu box
always came
up blank. WinXP would crash if I enabled DirectX.

After I replaced video card with an Gigabyte Radeon 9250
(128 Mb video
ram) and added another 1Gb ram (late father's day present
to self), the
beta is working much better. It runs fine with DirectX with
and without
safe mode, and in openGl.

It seems faster than on another machine running GE3 with
Radeon 9250
card w/128Mb on a P4 w/1Gb ram.

Your Pentium at 1.8GHz w/1Gb sounds like is close,
speedwise, to my
system. What video adaptor are you using?

I am guessing that the minimum usable hardware requirements
for GE4 are
higher tham those listed for GE3.

i have been having the same problem with any overlay. I use
a pc but
just got a new macbook and i encountered the very same
problem with the
overlay flashin on and off. sometimes i get it to work fine
but i cant
load all the files in my places without it flasing. so far i
have
experienced in on a windows and a mac so i cant figure out
where the
problem lies.
