The geocoded data used by Google Earth, Google Maps,
Mapquest,
Microsoft Local Live and a host of others is not ready for
detailed
important usage. If you read the disclaimers at the bottom,
none of
the above recommend using their data at this time if it is
important.
EXAMPLE USING GOOGLE EARTH -
LOCAL SEARCH: WHAT - Ponderosa Sports, WHERE - Horseshoe
Bend, ID
(You will see three hits. If you zoom in you will find no
buildings)
FLY TO: 43.966788, -116.188834
(You have landed on my building)
The worst error is 8 miles the best is 3 miles.
These mapping errors have -
Sent out the wrong counties police department to a burglary.
Sent 8 yards of concrete back to the supplier as
undeliverable.
Got our insurance canceled for having no fire protection.
Misdirected 100's of customers.
ONstar called the police when I asked them to confirm our
home location
by pinging the car.
