| Problem with flytoview in network link |

Hi all, I hope you have a hint for me.
The situation:
I have an own application, which can track moving objects. I
have a new
position of the object every second. (GPSoverIP).
This application creates a network link on startup and opens
it. In
this networklink I specifiy a local file, a kml-file, too. I
make GE
pull this new file every second. Then the app writes the
current
position of the object into this kml-file every second. GE
reads this
postion and shows the object. All this works fine.
Tha app needs to have two types of working. A) only show the
object
moving on the Earth without adapting the range of view in
GE. B) show
the object moving AND move the range of view in GE, so that
the object
always is in the middle of the screen.
To reach this, I just had the <flytoview> - tag in the
kml-file and let
the app switch it between 0 and 1. All this worked great up
to the
pre-latest version of GE. I had a switch in my app, and
could "remote"
by the kml-file to adapt the view in GE (including box,
tilt, height
and so on) or to let the user do it by himself in GE without
forcing
the app's position every second.
BUT since the latest update, this does not work anymore. I
can define
those two types in the network-link, also by the
<flytoview>-tag, but I
cannot switch while GE is running - what worked definitively
before.
If I change the network-links <flytoview>-tag and open
it, I have two
in GE. Is there a way to delete prev. network-links by
opening a
kml-file? Then I could delete the old one and give GE a new
one.
OR
Can I change/update the <flytoview>-tag by any
kml-file?
OR
Is there another way to let my kml-file decide whether to
flyto or not
without having this set in the networklink?
Please try to find a solution/help for me, since really a
lot of people
are using it ...
THANKS a lot !!!

Hi,
Just wanted to confirm that I'm seeing the same issue.
Haven't tested
with older versions of GE, but with the current beta,
<lookAt> tags in
network links don't seem to have any effect with automatic
refreshes.
However, if you double click on the placemark, it does work
(but that
kind of defeats the purpose).

Hi.
I have solved the problem for me.
Thanks for your mail.
Please look into the board, I will post there how I did it.

| Problem with flytoview in network link |

|
2006-11-23 10:22:03 |
Hi there. I have found a solution that works for me.
What I did:
I create a loader.kml.
In this one I start two network-links:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<kml xmlns='http://earth.google.c
om/kml/2.0'>
<Folder>
<name>GPSoverIP</name>
<NetworkLink>
<name>GPS Explorer</name>
<flyToView>0</flyToView>
<Url>
<href>C:DOKUME~1SCHALS~1LOKALE~1Tempobjects.kml&l
t;/href>
<refreshMode>onInterval</refreshMode>
<refreshInterval>1</refreshInterval>
</Url>
<refreshVisibility>1</refreshVisibility>
</NetworkLink>
<NetworkLink>
<name>Nachverfolgung</name>
<flyToView>1</flyToView>
<Url>
<href>C:DOKUME~1SCHALS~1LOKALE~1Tempflyto.kml<
/href>
<refreshMode>onInterval</refreshMode>
<refreshInterval>1</refreshInterval>
</Url>
<refreshVisibility>1</refreshVisibility>
</NetworkLink>
</Folder>
</kml>
The first loads a file with the placemarks for the objects
with no
lookat parameters in.
The second one manages the flyto.
The second one can appear in two types, in dependeny on what
I want to
have in my app. The type A looks like:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<kml xmlns='http://earth.google.c
om/kml/2.0'>
<Document>
</Document>
</kml>
This tells GE to flyto NOT to anywhere. So you have the full
control in
GE.
The type B looks like:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<kml xmlns='http://earth.google.c
om/kml/2.0'>
<Document>
<LookAt>
<longitude>10.0781883333333</longitude>
<latitude>50.2005116666667</latitude>
<range>1000</range>
<tilt>40</tilt>
<heading>-90</heading>
</LookAt>
</Document>
</kml>
This tells GE to flyto what the app decides.
So you do not have to change or update the networklinks or
something
like that, you just change the contents of the two loaded
kml files.
And - it works !!!
