Hi Everyone,
My name is Michael Sandler. I am attempting a world record
this summer
in an effort to help those with Attention Deficit Disorder
and I could
use some Google-Earth or mapping help to accomplish our
goals.
Beginning August 6th, I'll be skating
"Rollerblading" across the
country from L.A.
to NYC (see www.bladeacrossamerica.com or
www.addamerica.com) on a
world record attempt of 4000 miles in 40 days.
This is a large undertaking that's getting great attention
and has
already brought onboard sponsors such as Rollerblade,
Smartwheels, the
Electric Auto Association (EAA), CalCars, and many more.
We're trying
to help ADDers while promoting alternative fuels (keeping it
green) and
inline skating.
However, we don't have expertise in mapping. What we need
help with
is:
More detailed mapping of the route for the journey
Posting it to the website
Making it interactive
Allowing for real-time updates (preferably via GPS).
As a dream request, we'd love to even look at the grade and
road
surfaces along the route, but that is probably outside of
the scope of
the Google Earth Community. However, after a more detailed
mapping (we
have a rough one at http://www
.addamerica.com/RoutePlusMap.htm) we'll
need to make sure the planned route meets our safety needs
and criteria
and then approach state and local authorities to ensure it
will be safe
and legal for our travel (and for escorts where necessary).
Does anyone have experience in these areas and a passion for
helping
ADDers that would like to help out or point us in the right
direction
(either to individuals, a community, or a corporation)???
