Converting KML files to Shapefiles

I have found Google Earth very handy for creating 'best'
tracks from a
handful of GPS files of a given trail (each individual one
with the
usual GPS errors).  And it is great to be able to email
others the KML
(keyhole manipulation language) files of the track so
created so that
they may view it.

But I have a need to have these tracks used by an
orginization that
uses Arcmap and related ArcGIS programs - and they require
the,
so-called, Shapefile format of the track (and waypoint)
data.

Does anyone know the best (or any) way to convert KML files
to
Shapefiles?
