No proxy here, just the router. Why would IE's settings
matter?

when i search for "proxy" in Google earth's
support page, it suggests
that i change IE's proxy settings because Google earth in
Windows uses
IE's settings. The support page isn't updated for the
latest linux
release. I'm using Linux if you didn't notice it. I'm
behind a proxy.
so google earth timeouts when it tries to login into google
servers.

AFAIK, to rotate is not the same as using the "tilt
up" and down on
the Windows version. To rotate change the north, and the
tilt change
perspective without changing north.
I tried it in Ubuntu 5.10.
Best regards,
SB.

Ok i got it. set http_proxy variable before starting google
earth.
export http_proxy=http://<proxy
IP>:<port>
Example:
export http_proxy=http://192.168.1.2:3128
