I try to make my websites available in many languages.
ee for example http://astro.technetium.be
 that has been translated
(partially) into German, English, Spanish, French, Latin,
Dutch,
Norwegian and Romanian.
I'd like the accompanying gadged http://astro.te
chnetium.be/google.xml
also to be multilangual.

For the website I use the Accept-Language header field, with
the option
to overwrite that with and GET or POST parameter. I've
discovered the
Accept-Language header-field is not available. I did
discover the
modules are called with a GET parameter .lang. I'd like to
use this
parameter, but didn't find anywhere how to access it
(Preferable in
PHP)
http://60.gmodules.com/ig/ifr?url=http:/
/astro.technetium.be/google.xml&nocache=0&.lang=en&a
mp;.country=&w=262&h=200

p.s. I've seen the documentation about the <locale>
tag. But could not
discover how these get used and what the benefit of using
these tags
is.

Toni

Hi Toni,

In the rush to get the multi-lingual gadgets live in
conjunction with
World Cup, we ran out of time to enable third party
developers to use
the new "message bundle" system. For now, if you
want to create a
multi-lingual gadget, email me at
ralph.feedback+languagegmail.com and
I'll hook you up with the engineering team. In
fact, they would love to have more examples to work with!

Multi-lingual gadgets are trickier than they seem at first.
In addition
to multi-lingual rendering, you also need to support
placement in i18n
directories. For example, check out the Eyes gadget in the
Japanese
directory:

http://www.google.
co.jp/ig/catalog

http://www.
google.com/ig/modules/eyes.xml

I hope this helps and I thank you for your interest in the
Google
Gadget API.

Regards,
Ralph
