How do I find the documentation
listing all the UserPref "name="s and
"value="s
for all the built-in stuff we are suppose to be using
UserPref for, like button colors, font colors,
background colors, etc, etc?

Thank you,
Eddie

Hey Eddie,

I'm assuming you're referring to other built-in gadgets,
e.g.
builtin_weather.xml, builtin_bookmarks.xml. These built-in
gadgets are
special cases, and unfortunately there is currently no
built-in support
for changing userpref button, font, or background colors.
Check out
the documentation on userprefs at
http://www.google.com/apis/gadgets/reference.htm
l#Userprefs_Ref.

Is this what you were looking for?

Thanks,
Dann

I now realize what I was talking about:
<UserPref ...>...</UserPref>...<form
...>...
<input style=... value=... OnClick=...
/>...</form>.

See: SimpleCalc by Doug Bromley.

One: What I guess would be helpful is to take the basic
Hello World
example you start off with and then do a second Hello World
example
adding a <UserPref ...> thingy, perhaps to change the
text or
background color as Doug does.

Two: Along the way, please point out that many of the parts
of standard
XHTML lend themselves to <UserPref ...>, then list
some popular ones.

Three: Those
"OnClick="<do-something-exciting>" type
things:
- Please discuss what all those are all about.
- Also discuss how and where to find the documentation for
what to put
in the <do-something-exciting> part. I take it the
<do-something-exciting> part is not in the W3.org
XHTML spec.

Four: Don't assume. Document.
I still have no clue what "other built-in gadgets, e.g.
builtin_weather.xml, builtin_bookmarks.xml." are or
where I should have
seen those discussed and documented, besides the stuff that
confused me
with the <UserPref... <form... <input... stuff.

Thank you,
Eddie
