All syndicated gadgets will work on the Google Personalized
Homepage as
well as Google Desktop. The reverse is not true. Gadgets
from the GPH
that are inlined or use the javascript set function to store
state will
not work as syndicated gadgets.

I doubt they look at the actual gadget code when they do
their index.
The searches are based on the information in the ModulePrefs
tag.

the code?

Not really. Closest thing to that would probably be the
categories
that Google (or you define with the category attribute of
the
ModulePrefs tag) uses instead of keyword.

It probably hasn't made it all the way through the approval
process and
onto the servers. It can take a couple weeks and then some.

Not necessary. Their crawler automatically updates the
gadget xml file
every so often. Every hour or so? I'm not sure exactly.

Hey everyone,

Justin, thanks for your response. It seems you really have
your arms
wrapped around how things work, which is great!

One thing I'd like to add is, while you're waiting for your
gadget
submission to go through, go ahead and start promoting your
gadget.
There's no sense in waiting. One idea is to submit your
gadget to
other third-party directories. Many of them get just as
much traffic
and recognition. Here's a list to get you started:

Thanks!

Dann
