ModulePrefs limitations - setting in code

Hi

I am trying to create a better RSS widget using asynchronous
requests -
you can see it at http://www
.souptoys.com/blorman/blorm.xml.  The
problem with it is that I cannot programmatically set the
title and
title_url ModulePrefs to the received feed title/link, and
hence the
user is forced to put them in manually as UserPrefs.

I have seen the inlining solution but I do not like it. 
Inlining seems
like overkill to me, since all I want to do is manipulate
the title of
my own module.  I suppose that my questions are:

i) Are my inlining assumptions/conclusions right?
ii) Is there any plan to change this situation in the near
future?
