I just found a way for people to be able to take notes on their computer and have them saved on Google Notebooks without having to open a browser. If you have Google Desktop installed, go to Add Gadget and in the search bar, put
http://www.google.com/ig/modules/notebook.xml
This will make the module Google made for the homepage appear and you will be allowed to add it to your Google Desktop gadgets. You will be able to view, edit, and delete any note in any of your notebooks. You can even create a new notebook, all without opening a browser. The only limitations I can find right now is that it uses IE cookies, so you have to log into Google Notebook from IE, or else tit won't work. Also, there is no way to paste into the Desktop version. I've tried right clicking as well as Ctrl + V, but it won't paste. So this is good if you need to look at your notes real quick or have something you want to save in a hurry. It also looks better if you undock it from the sidebar and increase the width so you don't have to scroll.
I know there is a gadget out there already for the Notebook, but as far as I can remember, it is a read only gadget and doesn't let you add things.

Thank you very much Nick.
I'll stay tuned for the cookie problem...
