Indexing password protected directories

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of trying to get our appliance to index
some pdfs
that are located in a password protected directory, but I'm
having no
luck. I've tried using the form authentication, but from
what I've
read that is really designed for html based forms, not
prompts. I've
also tried the crawler access route and that hasn't really
worked yet.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?

Thanks
Zach

It sounds like you are using either Basic or NTLM
authentication which
means that Crawler Access is your answer. Here is some
documentation
to get started:

http://cod
e.google.com/apis/searchappliance/documentation/50/secure_se
arch/secure_search_overview.html

You will need to make sure that you have specified a URL
pattern that
exactly matches the URLs you want to crawl and then
obviously the
properly credentials. Once those are set, you should recrawl
the site
and see what happens.
