Basic flaw of cookie-based tracking? - 3 new
--------------------------------------------
Google Analytics Help states that if a user's browser denies
the cookie set by
the tracking code, then the visit will not be logged.
Furthermore, their
implementation sets a first-party cookie. However, my domain
names are
registered through GoDaddy, and I use domain forwarding to
my ISP's web server
where my sites are hosted. Thus - Mon, Dec 17 2007 2:59 am

I think you mean veracity. I am a
bit confounded by that one myself. I
don't see the connection-- even if it is a bug it seems
far-fetched. Still,
unless their customer service rep is clueless and/or making
false claims, they
are admitting that it is the case. Strange!! Cheers, -Chuck

ASP Pages Break with ga.js - 2 new
----------------------------------
When updating to the new ga.js code I find that it breaks
ASP pages. As the
code change was the only change at the time, there is no
doubt. Several of the
pages are simple with almost no ASP code. The error
complaint is nested

Outbound Link Tracking Errors - 2 new
-------------------------------------
IE skips over these errors with only a small icon at the
lower left of the
browser. Firefox shows them as 'pageTracker._trackVisit is
not a function' So,
far I think I have done everything in the GA help section.
The ga.js script
blocks are just after the <body> tag... The code is:

Validation - 1 new
------------------
You should strip out the HTTP/HTTPS auto detection and use
the correct version
for your site, and put the <script> tags right before
your </ head>. <script>
tags are not allowed outside the <head> tag. I use
XHTML 1.1 (which is always
strict), and it works fine. - Mon, Dec 17 2007 11:55 am

Google Analytics Problem - 1 new
--------------------------------
Don't know but I use XHTML 1.1 (which is always strict) and
I got it to
validate for me just fine. Just put the <script> tags
right before the </head>
and *not* before </body> like the Documentation says.

CPC clicks don't show up in Analytics - 2 new

The GCLID paramater needs only to be on the first page you
have Analytics
tracking code on. Once it's detected, a cookie is set and
the user will be
associated with that GCLID from now on. - Mon, Dec 17 2007

Problem with New tracking code - 1 new
--------------------------------------
I use the "Edit HTML" mode on my blogger blog, and
had to escape the HTML
entities for < and > in my script block because I keep
the <!-- and //--> HTML
comment tags around the text of my scripts. So really my
code looks like this.

Excluding internal traffic by cookie - 1 new

The cookie would be called __utmv and it will be prepended
by your domain "
hash" for example pageTracker._setVar('test_valu e');
would show up as "__utmv=

Stray Code - 1 new
------------------
Although I know the code is correctly installed and placed,
many of my pages
are showing the final ");" as stray text at the
bottom of the page. I do not
use an editor (such as Front Page or Dreamweaver); I code by
hand. Each page
was an individual placement. Any ideas? Thanks. - Mon, Dec

Thank you Shore Tel for your response, and sorry about the
delay in responding.
I had someone else work on it and they seem to have worked
it out. I think it
may have been something like what you suggested. Thanks so
much for taking the
time to respond. - Mon, Dec 17 2007 9:37 pm
