Maybe it's timeout issue.
You can setup timeout on search.Timeout
Imports com.google.api
Dim search As com.google.api.GoogleSearchService = New
GoogleSearchService
Dim result As GoogleSearchResult
Dim googlekeywordranking As New GoogleKeywordRanking()
search.Timeout = 500000
result = search.doGoogleSearch(key, q, start, 10, True,
"", False, "",
"", "")
Note:
The time out, in milliseconds, for synchronous calls to the
XML Web
service. The default is 100000 milliseconds.

Its been spotty for days
Google doesn't "actively" support it anymore. I
wonder what that
means, exactly.. The servers will endure as long as they
can, without
human intervention? Perhaps the emerging Google API will
take them
under its wing
