Thread: GTK radiant development

Hi,

I have not used GTKRadiant for a few years but was thinking
about
getting back into it! From the qeradiant website I see very
little
information except details of most recent release and the
message "but
without a development team it is not possible or sane to
support
GtkRadiant any longer.".

Does this mean that GtkRadiant will no longer be developed?
If help is
needed with anything I would be happy to add my little
knowledge to the
project!

Alan

There is no one left to develop GtkRadiant. If you can C++
and want to
program something in your spare time feel free to work on
this
project. You can send your patches to this list and some of
the people
with svn write acces will add it to the source.

It seems from other discussion on this mailing list that
development
continues though?

If you mean that id software (TTimo) is working on a GPL
version of
the improved 1.4 and James Dessart tries to get 1.5 work
with MacOS
then you are right. But generally there are no 1.5 core
developers.

There is a version of 1.5 out there that works on the Mac
already,
precompiled. However it only supports the Quake 3 engine,
and I'm
mainly doing any porting because I need a Quake 2 map
editor. I've put
the 1.5 stuff down for the time being, but I might take a
look at 1.4
at some point to see if I can get it building, at least, on
Mac OS X.

I'm planning to use a framework called Quagents, which
allows you to
use Quake 2 as an agent-based simulation environment. Since
it's tied
to Quake 2, and I'd rather concentrate on my own simulation
logic, I'm
kinda tied to Quake 2 as well.

I can only agree here (UFO:AI)
