Hi Warren -

Thanks for your offer of help on the 64-bit RealPlayer for
Linux port.
I've added the player-devhelixcommunity.org mailing
list to this
response to let the community know what's up. I highly
suggest sending
email to this mailing list as there are many developers on
here who can
answer questions.

We are currently running nightly builds for amd64 on linux,
but it fails
now due to some ribosome errors and a common va_ags list
error. One of
the developers took a look at it and said it shouldn't be
too difficult
to resolve those and then you would already have nightly
builds running
for you. http://
forms.helixcommunity.org/helix/builds/ These are
currently Cayenne builds, but could be moved to HEAD if that
is where
you want to work.

There has been some work done by Jose Reguaro last year to
make the
Cayenne core 64-bit compliant. I believe he was trying to
get the
embedded player to work with a 64-bit Mozilla browser. I
think he
finished, but we never got a final status on it.

The player itself has not had any work done to make the UI
64-bit.

Our codecs, on x86, ARM and a few other platforms, are
all hand optimized assembly code. This code should work just
fine
on a 64-bit build and we will not lose performance. I think
you can
start on the port and just ignore the codecs.

Email the list if you have anymore questions and I look
forward to
working with you on this!
Thanks,
- Donya Shirzad
