There is gap between what realplayer claimed to support and the reality

The RealPlayer for Linux is an integrated *application* based on top of the Helix DNA Client *platform*.

The Helix platform has a super-set of features aimed at multiple products, multiple devices, multiple OS'es and architectures, etc. The RealPlayer for Linux, which is a released product aimed at Linux PC's, will generally have a subset of functionality of the Helix DNA Client.

https://datatype.helixcommunity.org lists the complete set of formats and codecs for the Helix DNA Client, *not* the RealPlayer.

If you can give us an idea of precisely what information you are looking for, we can point you in the right direction.

Regards,
Rishi.

When I click the hyperlink "schedule"; on https://player.helixcommunity.org/2005/help/helixrealfaq.html
Error "this page doesn't exist"; will show up.

Currently, Realplayer v10.0.8 which I got from https://player.helixcommunity.org/ doesn
’t support speech codec (amr-nb, amr-wb), windows media (wma, wmv), etc.
But in https://datatype.helixcommunity.org/ they are in support list. I’m wondering if there’s a commercial version anywhere else which support more datatype than v10.0.8?

Best Regards,
Cathy Shen

Hi Cathy -

Here's the RealPlayer shipping status on each of
the codecs you've asked about.  Most of this
information should be on the FAQ, but just in
case I've included it here.
https://player.helixcommunity.org/2005/help/playerfaq.html#mozTocId178322

MPEG1 video - no plugins
MPEG2 video - we have plugins they do not ship
with the RealPlayer due to royalty fees.
Windows media - these will be shipping in the
next RealPlayer, slated to be released 1st half
of 2007.
CD/DVD playback - not usually.  Some Linux OSes
include cdfs and the RealPlayer can play from
those if you open the files from the mountpoint
like you would any other file, but most distros
do not include cdfs by default.
Container (.avi) - not currently in the product
MPEG-4 video decoder  - not currently in the
product due to licensing restrictions
H.264 decoder - in the product, but not all the contained codecs are supported
VC-1 decoder - should be available with WM next year.

I'm also unsure of why you can't get to the Plans
page.   Were you getting an error?

Thanks,
- Donya
