Lisa here...I am fine, thanks for asking! Tell Tracy we said hello as
well.

Elizabeth is working very hard to assure that all of the "Katrina"
dogs have homes prior to leaving (or at least within the month of
August) for her home. Shelli will be there this evening and is
scheduled to leave around the 28th of August. Johnna is doing some
interviews this Friday to "try" to hire some locals to do cat care.

Here are a few facts that all of us were not aware of so by shedding
some light on this area you all may well understand the lack of help
down there. There have been SEVERAL attempts to HIRE local people to
help out in Tylertown. For whatever reason help has been VERY hard to
find. There have been a couple of locals who have helped out and
continue to do so (one with maintenance and yard work, the other with
cat care a couple days of the week) other than those two, nobody is
willing to work it seems.

As far as a permanent building....(long story) the supplies are there
but HSLA has not been a able to find a contractor willing to put the
thing up. One person committed to it and then never showed up.
Mississippi is an entirely different world from what most of us live
in. One instance sticks in my head. I'm sure most of you remember the
storage trailers? Well, Elizabeth has been trying to get them to pick
the last one up for a month now. The company promised her over and
over that they would be there today...today...this afternoon...this
evening...tomorrow...yada, yada. They finally showed up last week
after I called several times in one afternoon and then several more
times the next day. Another example is the trash pickup....they have
to be called several times a week to be reminded to come empty the
dumpster...that has been going on since I spent my month there in
October..I myself had to make phone calls to them. Elizabeth also
called every pest control company in the T-town, Jackson, Columbia,
MComb, Hattiesburg area in an attempt to rid the place of mice/rats
nobody showed up!!

Anyway...Yes, Elizabeth is TRYING to get the very last few dogs
placed, but please stay in touch with her just in case something falls
through so we can pick up the pieces and jump in to help.

Tammy and I are on the road again today from our home in TN. to
deliver the five dogs we are transporting. Tex, Emmie, Raspberry
(little red girl) and a couple of post-Katrina puppies are off to
their furever homes with a few more to follow soon.

Gonzo and Sue Varner have two WONDERFUL pits available as well if
anyone may be interested. These two are FLAWLESS and are both
"Katrina" dogs.

Ok, so we are out the door and on our way to multiple destinations...
