You need to reassociate FP with .htm files, since something else seems to have taken it over. The best way to do this is to open Windows Explorer to any folder (it doesn't matter which) and then click View -> Folder Options. (I'm assuming, for no particular reason, that you're on Windows XP here, and I have to do this from memory since I run Vista.) Click the File Types tab, and then scroll down to .htm. Click ... uh ... I think it's Edit, and you'll be able to go find that frontpg.exe in the Office11 folder. Check the box that says "always open with this program" (or something like that), then OK, and you should be fine.

For what it's worth, now that you've gone through all this, I really wouldn't suggest doing this. It's better to actually open FP and then open the file from there, for two reasons. First, FP is really happier when you work within Webs, instead of working on an individual page. But second, and more importantly, if someone sends you an .htm file that you simply want to open in the browser, it'll be harder now because FP will want to open. I'm personally a Dreamweaver user, and while I do have DW set to be the default application for most of the related file types used by web pages, such as .css, .xml, and .cfm, I have Firefox as the default program for .htm and .html files for exactly the reason I mention above. When might this happen? One specific case I encounter is when I
travel. I check in for my return flight online the night before, but
since I don't have a printer in the room most of the time, I simply
save the boarding pass as a .htm page until I can get to printer, at
which time I can open it up - in the browser - and print it. If I had DW as the default editor - what you'll run into if you have FP as the editor - is that the page would open in that program and you'd then have the extra step of previewing the page in the browser. But that's just my 2 cents.

Hi Judith,

I'm back at my original problem, though... when I want to open one of my
.htm pages, I can't open it with FP because FP isn't an option. Even when I
click on "Browse" to find FP in the list of programs, it's not there.

Thanks,
dee
