scan rules not working

hi i am trying to download a site, which contains gif, jpeg
and mpg, but i want only html and jpg formats. but scan
rules are not working, its still downloading mpg's too.
what should I do. I am using 3.4-2.
scan rules set to "+*.jpg +*.html" but no use :|
please someone help me
