I was wondering the same thing: could GPU be used
efficiently to break
RC5?
However that may be, I think it is just another mean (in
addition to
software and fpga). Of course, the advantage is that a lot
of people
have already a powerful (crypto)graphical card. The current
disadvantage is that we will need people to do the job.
I'm completely unable to foreseen what could be the
performances of
such a solution.
I'm ready to discuss with people about that, but I'm a
newbie in this
area and will not have the time to do the job.
About GPU: if I understand well, pixel shaders are the area
of interest.
By the way, a RC4 breaker was already build using GPUs (but
using it
for RC5 is probably really different).
