I am a new wearer of hearing aides and I have a view
questions. First, is there a FAQ
somewhere. Second, is there a quality ranking for the
various battery brands. The third
question is a little complicated. I have yet to go in for my
first assessment and am wondering
the best way ro present my concerns to the audiologist. My
accuity was levelish out to around
1500 Hz where it started to drop off a good bit. When I
first put my aides in I was
discomfited by the amount of noise that came through. So I
superimpossed the piano
keybourd on my audiogram chart (the frequency numbers on my
chart progressed by a factor
of two (250,500,1000,2000, etc). So both the chart and the
keyboard progressed by octaves.
The highest note ever written in serious music has a
frequency of 1397 Hz (it is F in the
second octave above middle C and appears in Mozart's The
Magic Flute). I want the
audiologist to adjust my aides so as to curtail the
amplification above 1500 Hz. Might this be
a reasonable or unreasonable request to make. Opinions
welcomed.
