Hi Lisa,
I thought you had gone through the Volunteer Advocate training, but wasn't
sure if you had gone ahead and become a Nucleus Advocate. Like you, I do not
like the brand wars and frankly, do not understand why some people get so
bent out of shape. You don't see these kinds of brand wars with hearing
aids.

I don't know where I'm going to have my volunteer training, or if it will
just be on the web. The Cochlear Awareness Network Manager for the Southeast
lives in Jacksonville, FL and is flying in to meet her 4 Alabama volunteers.
I hope I can meet up with the other Nucleus Advocates from Alabama,
especially the guy from Mobile and Dixie, who lives near Birmingham. She and
I go to the same audiologist. If not before, I'm sure I will meet her and
many others from the Advocate program and the mail lists at the Celebration
in San Antonio in February. I'm really looking forward to the Celebration
and to being involved in the Volunteer Advocate program.

Vicki and Lynn,

Vicki: it's so good to hear from you! I'm glad you're doing well! I'm
continuing to do wonderfully well with my CIs and just completed my second
to last semester towards my Bachelor's degree. Only one more semester to go
before graduation! I'm now getting ready for the holidays. Christmas happens
to be my favorite time of year, so I'm really looking forward to decorating
my home and doing other things to get ready for the season!

Lynn: I think you're going to enjoy being a Volunteer Advocate! I've been a
Volunteer Advocate since December, 2004 and absolutely love it! It's great
being able to reach out to new candidates and share my experiences with the
CI. Having said that, I keep my identity as a Volunteer Advocate private (on
the CI forums) because I do not want my posts to be taken as if I'm writing
on behalf of Cochlear. I hate brand wars and do everything I can to avoid
them. However, I will not hesitate to share my experiences with others as
well as the reasons why choosing Cochlear was the best decision for me.
Here's wishing you continued success with your CI -- and good luck with your
Volunteer Advocacy training! I attended a training session in Chicago and it
was alot of fun -- as well as informative! I had the opportunity to meet
other CI users and learn about all 3 CI brands (particularly the Freedom).

Lisa
