What's the latest on FM systems?
I have a 16 year old Comtek system (at least 16...). I hadn't used it
in over 5 years or more- brought it with me to Arizona just for the
hell of it. My employers and co-workers asked me what would help with
meetings etc (they were the ones who approached ME before I could say
anything! lol). I suggested my FM System. So far it has worked like
a charm.. except for the rechargeable batteries crapping out twice...
I think its time to chuck those. I charged them 8 hours and they
lasted less than 40 minutes...these are the ORIGINAL "rechargeable"
batteries that came with the system! The conference mate I have.. I
think I like better than the newer one I see on site (but the inside
plate looks like it has a little rust or something on it...)
I had considered getting a new system... was checking out the comtek
site.. nearly fell over at the prices. Well no.. the BASIC system is
only about 120 dollars more than what I paid back in 1990- I paid 200
VR paid 800. The needs I would have are for mostly meetings (about
10-12 people in a mid sized room)...sometimes lectures with a primary
speaker. The DAI cord I had made especially for this system is
amazingly good... MUCH better than the lanyard loop.. better quality
sound and LOUDER lol.
I also wish I could get a longer DAI cord... more for my computer etc.
The other one is doable long as I don't do anything drastic...lol.
