Hi, Lynn.
No, I haven't seen the music Link, and didn't even know of its
existence. It looks like just the thing I want, and I will, I hope, get a
hold of one soon. It's even cheaper than the products I've been buying for
the past few years from Sennheiser. Thanks very much for the excellent
suggestion.

Aman,
Have you looked at the Music Link? <http://www.tecear.com/Music%20Link.htm
<http://www.tecear.com/Music%20Link.htm> >
It is supposed to give true stereo sound.

Hi, Steve and all.
I find myself in a bit of a quandary and was wondering if you knew
of any way to get out of it. For the past six years or so, I've been using
silhouette chords from Sennheiser. These have worked well except that they
have often needed to be replaced because they would fray, either at the
point of the silhouette itself or, more rarely, at the point of the jack.
This was just a cost of constant use, and I had no problem with it. I
recently purchased a cable in replacement of one that had frayed. I found
the cable worked, but not as a stereo cable. When I plugged the cable into a
stereo jack, both silhouettes received the signal from the left channel, and
neither from the right. Therefore, what I had, in effect, was a mono cable
giving me mono on both sides. Do you know of any stereo cables still being
sold? I asked my own equipment provider and was told this mono cable was all
that was available. I'd like, as I had before, a cable that would give me
one channel per silhouette, and would be most grateful for any ideas.

A silhouette is a "hook" with a tiny "loop" in it . It lies up beside your
BTE and drives the aid's telecoil just like a neckloop. There are stereo
version and mono versions.

You can learn more at the glossary of hearing loss terms at
www.nchearingloss.org.

You phone loop set won't work because it's got a mic in it to work with the
phone. You need a regular neckoop (or silhouette) or Direct Audio Input
(DAI), and you may need a personal ALD to drive them, since the iPod may not
have enough power, though it might drive a silhouette or DAI.

Those things are also discussed in that glossary.

Hi Aman,
What does Silhouette look like? I have a loopset for my cell phone but I
don't think it'll work on the iPod.

Hi.
You can use a neck loop, silhouette, or FM system for the Ipod. The
unit has a standard headphone port, so anything that plugs into such a
port
should work well. However, I find the sound quality isn't extraordinarily
good over any of these methods, but the silhouettes are the best of a bad
bunch, IMHO. I have often just used standard headphones without hearing
aids. It would be nice to get some form of input method to aids that would
give me as excellent a quality of sound as I get with headphones without
aids, but I have yet to see it.

Does anyone has an iPod?? I was wondering what headphone that you use for
your BTE? I'm just curious.
Thanks,

Hi AMan,

I bought the music link about 6 months ago and they work very well.

Each link consists of a small loop which goes over the ear behind
the aid. And, you get one channel through one ear and the other
channel through the other ear. Of course, the sound quality
depends on how your aids are adjusted.

Music really sounds good through them, to me anyway.

As I recall, they are about $50.

As far as durability goes, they're probably about the same as any
earphones with the same light-weight wire.

I got mine through Neil Bauman at hearinglosshelp.com.

He has all sorts of things there including loop amplifiers and
articles regarding the install of loops.
