Lisa-
I seem to do okay with loud noises and can tolerate a lot
of noise. I turn down my aids if I find that something gets
too noisy. This only happens on occasions. You sound like
you have a great deal of tolerance for noise. I find that
with my aids being able to reduce the background noise to
quieter level for me that I do pretty good for this reason.

Hi Vicki,

I'm glad the background noise suppression helps you hear
better! When I
started wearing hearing aids, I had occasions where
background noises
sounded too loud, but it was never painful. Like you, I
simply turned down
my aids and gradually increased them if I had difficulty
hearing. I don't
know why I have such a high tolerance to sound, but it has
always been that
way.

Lisa

Vicki,
Do you notice your aids kicking in with noise suppression
when you walk into
a noisy restaurant or meeting? I have a good bit of
tolerance for noise, but
do have a problem hearing the person I am trying to talk to
in a noisy
environment. The Divas regular setting just doesn't seem to
do much in the
way of noise suppression and actually seems to amplify the
background noise.
Frequently, I find that turning my volume down helps me to
hear. The noise
suppression works pretty well for wind/road noise in the
car, but doesn't
seem to do anything in a noisy restaurant/meeting. When I
had the Savias
those few weeks, if I walked into a noisy restaurant, within
a few seconds
you could hear the noise suppression kick in. I guess I
still need to have
some more adjustments made. I'm glad I have a little while
longer on my
trial period.

Lynn
