I agree with Steve.? I have been wearing hearing aids for over thirty years now and sometimes, if they don't fit right (or the molds don't fit if you are wearing BTE's) then your ear can get killer sore!? Even a small weight loss or gain can make them fit wrong.? I have tried home fixes - and this is only for temporary help until you can get to see your audiologist - you can get the soft gel like ear plugs at the drugstore and carefully put a little flat piece around the mold where the pain is.? The earplug material is almost like clay so it's very pliable.? BUT WARNING: do not put it anywhere near an open hole on your hearing aids or molds (by open hole I mean the vents, the microphone, the battery opening...anything that the stuff could migrate into the hearing aid or mold).? Just a dab of the gel/clay like material can help you get through the day until you see your doctor.? I know for me, I can't go without my hearing aid.? I am almost deaf in one ear and if the other hea ring aid causes me problems - I am basically totally deaf and I don't know enough ASL yet to communicate that way so I am up the creek.? The gel like ear plugs stuff has saved me several times.? But again, make sure you see your doctor ASAP and make sure you don't get the ear plug material anywhere near a hole that could migrate into your hearing aid instrument.

I can't diagnose problems via the Internet (or any other way for that
matter, since I'm not a doctor or a hearing health professional of any
type), but I do know that a new ear mold which isn't fit just right can
cause your ear to feel exactly like you describe.

If that's it, then your audiologist should be able to adjust the mold
(probably sand it down or maybe replace it) and solve the problem. They
should also be able to recognize if that's not the problem, in which case
they'd probably refer you to your ENT.

But it may take a while for the swelling and tenderness to go away. You
may have to use a temporary ear mold until the swelling goes down, or even
not wear your hearing aids at all for a while if it's too painful.

Good luck, SteveB

Subject: [Hearing_Aids] Question

Hello all:
I wear hearing aids. My left ear is killing me. I think I got a
pimple or something in it. It hurts to take out and put it in. I am
gonna see if I can get in tomorrow with the audiologist. By the way
these are new molds about 2 to 3 weeks old now. Should this be
happening is this normal? Tale Care all.
