SSH Access Issues

Hi,

I have been trying to get the helix-server source to install
it on my
machine. I am running Windows XP and using cygwin.

I have uploaded the public keys (I have tried RSA2 and DSA),
but I am
not able to successfully login without it prompting me for a
password.
It is not a question of it needing time to update the SSH
keys, I have
given it time. Here's the debug log when I try ssh -vvv -l
sridharb
cvs.helixcommunity.org

You will see that it logs in eventually, but only after I
enter in the
password. What is the problem here and how can I get past
this?

Since I am not a member, could you please Cc your replies to
this
address as well?

Thanks,
Sridhar

SSH Access Issues

Generally, if the cvs/ssh system is asking you for a password, it means that the private key on your machine is not matching up with the public key that you stored on helixcommunity.org.

From your log, it seems that the dsa private key does not exist on your system. This is what I would suggest.
1.Clear up all keys from your $HOME/.ssh
2. Follow steps 8 -11 from https://common.helixcommunity.org/2004/devdocs/quickstart

Please continue to use DSA encryption only and please wait at least 1 hr after you update the key.

-Rishi.

1.Clear up all keys from your $HOME/.ssh

It is not a question of it needing time to update the SSH keys, I have

You will see that it logs in eventually, but only after I enter in the

Hi Rishi,

I have tried what you suggested - I get the same problem. Is
there a
server log file that you/someone in your group can be
examine to see
what's going on there?

Another thing that I would like to report - when I used
Firefox to
update the keys, it looks like there is a problem with it
sending keys
to the server or showing that there is a key on the server.
Using IE,
that problem seems to go away. I am using Firefox 1.5 on
Windows XP.
