Why does this stream not play?

Hello,

I've set up a Apple Darwin server to provide some streaming
media. It
has a lot of sample-files in diferent codecs.

Now I compiled splay to be the client for the server and I'm
trying to
play a file named "sample_300kbuits.mp4". This
doesn't work, I get a
HXR_NO_RENDERER error.

GSpot tells me that it's standard mpeg4 codec (see attatched
picture,
sorry for the size) and I've accepted the binary license, so
that codec
should be available for splay.

The rtsp communication (taken from tcp dump) is attatched,
too.

If someone could explain to me why this doesn't work it'd
help me a lot!

Thanks,

Gregor

Regardless of signing the BEULA you will not get a
MPEG4-Video
codec. That codec requires a license payment to the MPEG-LA
group for each download. So, you will only find it via paid
products generally so that the cost-per-download can be
covered somehow.

That is why you are getting the HXR_NO_RENDERER error, it
means
that you don't have that one codec (mp4v.dll/.so). An mp4
audio
only clip should pay fine however.

If you download and install the RealPlayer for Windows, we
do
include the codec there since we have paid for a
distribution
license for Windows/Desktop PCs.

Ah, okay. My fault.

As far as I know we have paid for a mp4 license, too. I'll
check the
details where to get the .so tomorrow, so far thank you very
much!

In fact there IS a mp4v.so built (according to the creation
date it is
built with the other files), i can see it in my release
directory. Why
that? I use the 1.5.0 cayenne branch.

Playing of mp4 files still doesn't work. :(
