Check for Updates is available in one of the following ways:
1. During First Run / Setup Assistant phase, where the user
can allow the installer to check for updates
2. Selecting "Check for Updates" from the Help
Menu
3. Selecting "Check for Updates" after attempting
to play an unsupported file-format/data-type.
In the current branch nightly build of the player, the Check
for Updates functionality is broken.
The Player makes no attempt to launch an instance of the
browser and check for updates. This can be
reproed by doing any of the three scenarios mentioned above.
