I got the same error described in first comment.
I have two nearly identical systems - realplay worked fine
on one (without vnc running), and crashed on 
the other (had vnc running).  Other potential factors - old
version of realplay may have been run in 
current X session.
Problem was resolved after restarting X without vnc, then
restarting X again with vnc enabled.
The first few times playing it, it didn't crash, but there
was no sound, and video would pause for ~1/4 
second every second or so. I played the old version a few
times also before new version started working.
It now is working great. version 10.1.0.3050
ALSA and XVideo support greatly appreciated. thanks!
