Summary: Running the RealPlayer for a long
duration results in an
unusable desktop/OS
Severity: S1
Status: NEW
Hardware: PC
Version: 10.1.0.3666
Tracker: Top Level Player
Project: player
Target Milestone: not determined
The issue is with RealPlayer running on machines running
SLED10 SP1 and xorg version 6.9.0-50.45.
After leaving RealPlayer running a livestream for more than
12 hours, the desktop becomes basically
unusable with X taking up more than 75% of the system's
memory (as can be seen from the bottom top
line).

X
The OS (Xserver) becomes very slow and almost unresponsive.
The only way out is to ssh to the box
and restart X or the OS itself. (Restarting X is slow and
takes a long time - rebooting the machine
is a faster option but even a reboot takes more than
2mins).
I reproed the above issue on two different machines - one
with the X driver for intel video graphics
and another machine with the X driver for ATI graphics.
I could not repro this issue using the same build of
RealPlayer on a machine running SUSE 10 (xorg
version 6.9.0-35)
