Hello Bryan,
My experience with VB.NET was with the 2003
version. I'm guessing that 2005 won't be a lot different?
Once you've got the "menu strip" on your form, play
with the Tab and Shift+Tab until you have the "menu strip in the "System Tray"
highlighted, you should be able to move between the different menu headings by
using the left and right cursor keys, and the up and down arrow keys to set the
order of your menu options.
It's a long while since I played with VB.NET 2003,
so, I may be way off beat?
I hope I've helped a little?
Geoff

Bryan,
I don’t know which
tutorial you are using but I suspect that ‘main menu control’ is the generic
term that the author has chosen to use for the menu control on the form. The
‘proper’ name given to the control that creates this menu structure is the
MenuStrip.
If you look in the
Visual Studio Toolbox under “Menus & Toolbars” you will see the various
tool classes that you can use in your programs. The only option in the group
that will create a traditional menu structure is the MenuStrip
tool.
Don’t get too
bogged down by the names…go ahead and explore and you’re likely to discover
way more than the author ever intended.
BTW, what control
had you added to the form if not the MenuStrip?

Bryan,
I assume
that you are using the MenuStrip tool in
VB.NET.
If you
select the item in the menu, then by right clicking you will get a context
menu and you can then Insert >
MenuItem.
To
rearrange the menu items, just grab the item and drag it with your mouse
to where you want it.

Hi
Bryan,
If you are working in the VB-6 IDE, and have brought up
the TOOLS | Menu Dialog and you are looking at the 42 menu
items which you created earlier in the day, but now realize that
you need a new item between items 17 and 18, just click on item
18, then go up to the middle center and click upon the "Insert"
button.
To put in three or four items between the old 17th and
18th items you would have to continue this Insert approach for the
3 or 4 times, or as needed.

erasing the
menu back to that
point. Bryan .
