If you have XP Pro, and can install IIS, then leveraging your VB klnowledge into .NET, especially if it;s something you haven;t done yet, is wehre I would put my vote.

Bear in mind, though, that you don;t need .NET to have a web page -- you don;t even need a lot of programming or controls (and in fact these things make your site heavier) -- if all you are doing is posting annoucements and text, then a web server, domain, and a simple (shareware / freeware) web editor may be good enough.

Start light.  Get a working simple page.
Then experiment in your copious free time.

Well Goodness-Gracious,

We don’t hear from you in Ages, and you have
to be a wise-ass and tell me to get off my butt
and to actually learn some new material < g >

I was going to buy some Javascript Menus/Buttons/Etc
but I never thought to ask anyone if the Dot Net
web capabilities include these items, or if the
growing Dot Net community is offering these items
for free, as was done for so many years in VB-6.

Any ideas ?
Or will I still be purchasing such things ?
Should I become Good-Buddies with Component-One ?

Also, any suggestions on a good place to set up shop
with a web hosting service that allows us to
pay for all of this capability ?

Eventually I will want the database capability,
so I was thinking the leap into Dot Net
would be the way to go on this.

Thanks Frank,
Steve

Steve why don't you just use ASP.Net, then you can just code in
VB.Net and it will be like writing a regular app in a web page with
just a few changes.
