Well then, your books are in the mainstream of technical books
on dot Net. None that I've found say anything about how to
install an application once its been developed.  Seems like a
pretty important topic to me. But what do I know?
And the recent discussions on the topic in this forum were started
by me. So far I still can't install my application on another PC
unless I personally go to that PC, browse over to Microsoft's
website, find the Framework v2 installation file and install it
on that PC, then copy my application onto the PC. Just off the
top of my head, that doesn't seem like a very efficient, nor profitable,
way to distribute an application. I suppose I could spring the $1-2k
for Installshield. But it doesn't seem right to me, that I should
have to spend that kind of money to distribute my application. It's
the principle of the thing.

Someone in this group some time ago posted a link to where a
setup.exe file could be found that would start another executable
file that did not have an exe extension. For example, I would like my
autorun.ini file to run a vbscript file when my CD is inserted into
a PC. But autorun won't run an executable that does not have an
exe extension. Anyway, if that person could post that link again
I would appreciate it.

Hi Steve

None of my books or courses deal with that specifically- --actually,
installing .Net applications are pretty simple--you just need to be
sure that the .Net Framework resides on the user's PC.

Commercial applications are another story---these can be a challenge,
and you may want to consider a commercial distribution program, such
as InstallShield.

If I'm not mistaken, I think this topic has come up in the group
recently---you may want to check the archives.
