Stuck in AUTHENTICATING state

Hi,

We are seeing that some of the clients get stuck in
AUTHENTICATING state. My 
understanding is that AUTHENTICATING is a temporary state
and they should go 
into either AUTHENTICATED or HELD state after sometime. But
that does not 
happen for some.

Does anybody else have a problem like this? What is causing
it and any 
solutions? I am using hostapd ver 4.9 with madwifi driver.
