All:
I used to program quite a lot in basic, but
now that I’m getting back into it – particularly because of using
Hummingbird - I find that there is a LOT I don’t know.
For instance, I’m not sure of what is
meant by “object” and what “dim HostExplorer as objectR21;
accomplishes. Then go on to “dim MyHost as objectR21; and “Set
MyHost = HostExplorer.HostFromProfile(220;TX_UNIX4”)8221; to use a
session. Thereafter “MyHost.Keys221; to send commands.
I know to use them, but I don’t know WHY.
I’ve been thinking of programs in Microsoft Office as well, and I’m
sure I’ll run into the same struggles. Basic has came a long way
since I used to write programs, and though I can do very well with the logic
and algorithms, I am not grasping the overall concept of the language.
Does anyone know of a good resource on the WWW
that addresses these sorts of questions? I’m stuck trying to write
code that will modify the connection address in a profile based on a user menu
IR17;ve written, but I haven̵7;t a clue how that particular variable is
addressed. Nor how to tell HostExplorer to then connect once the address
is assigned. I’ve actually have a copy of Visual Basic.NET and have
done some reading of the documentation, but it just doesn̵7;t seem to tell
me what I need to know when I try to program Hummingbird.
Any direction is appreciated and thanks in
advance!
