hula-setup error

hey all,
  i've finally checked out branch and am starting to play
with it on my 
gentoo x86_64.  i've run autogen.sh
--prefix=/usr/local/hula-branch, 
compiled, and installed hula.  now i try to run
sbin/hula-setup and i 
get this:

i'm not a python guy, so i'm not sure what this is or
where to go with 
it.  i've searched for bootstrap and found this if it
helps:
patsrouter hula-branch # find | grep bootstrap
../lib64/python2.4/site-packages/hula/bootstrap.la
../lib64/python2.4/site-packages/hula/bootstrap.so
../lib64/python2.4/site-packages/hula/bootstrap.a
patsrouter hula-branch #

what have i got messed up?
