Changes in trunk, hula-lite

Hi,

just noticed many changes in the trunk section. Since I am
no developer, 
those patches don't say much to me 
Is this the big movement from branches to trunk that will
make the new 
user interface available in trunk?
And whats hula-lite supposed to be? Does that mean the
release is 
approaching?
