Hi Alex and Dejan,

I could imagine to build up a demo machine. I need two
things:

1. I don't want to make anothers job (especially if someone
is eager to build
up a demo machine) - so if (and only if) nobody is willing
to make it I will do
it.
2. I need help with technical stuff. Which distribution
should I use, etc.

The last but most important thing: it will need some time,
till I've everything
together... don't expect the demo to be ready in the next
few days... if thats
an option, hth.

Best regards
Frederik

Personally, I think it's a cool idea.

I would suggest latest SVN is probably "the thing"
to run (esp. since
people trying it will probably want to report bugs...), for
many
reasons.

I think the only thing holding it back would be someone
(you?
to take
ownership of the project and do it. I would be more than
happy to give
advice on the best way of setting it up (e.g., I think a
virtual machine
would be a very good idea - but I think we've discussed that
before?)

Cheers,

Alex.

If I could suggest something: Andrew Wafaa started a project
on
rpath.org (I think? It's in the archives...) which is
basically a system
of creating a live CD. However, as well as being suitable
for live CDs,
you can also create "VMware images" or something
which you can use in
VMware player (or Qemu, etc.).

I don't know how far he got with it, but that would be a
really great
project to help out on. In particular, we'd get two things
out of it:

      * a live CD, for people to try out Hula,
      * a working server image, which we could use on the
demo server.

For me, the second point is quite important: I think if
someone is going
to offer a demo, it needs to be based on some kind of
virtualisation,
because we want to protect the actual demo machine from any
kind of
security problem. It would also mean we could let people
demo the
administration tools (when we write them ;)

It would be great if everyone interested in this area could
work
together on this - the offer of hosting is fantastic, and I
know a lot
of people want to see a working demo.

Cheers,

Alex.
