[Warning, this seems an issue for the IPR WG, not for
dnsop.]

This leaves open the issue of futile patents. If we decide

never standardize a technology for which there is a patent

in the world, no matter how futile it is", then, we
will standardize
nothing. Everything is already patented.

true.  but t-m's takrem patent does not sound futile to me.
