Unix Production Support Analyst/Sys Admin , Walnut Creek, CA

Monitor appropriate processes including application traffic file directories, error rates, CPU utilization and specific customer processing.
Provide accurate diagnosis of production issues/problems by analyzing data in log files, error rates and code releases. Issues could include production errors, slowdowns, outages, data discrepancies and anomalies in production processing.
Provide timely and accurate problem resolution by detailed research on specific applications.
Provide technical support and implement scripting changes if necessary to appropriate application.
Install and efficiently use debugging tools, back up tools and scripts. The programs are in various languages including UNIX, and SQL.
Perform basic file and program editing.
Run specific marketing reports on request. The types of reports are dependent on particular application. Requires knowledge of standard desktop apps, database concepts and shell scripting.
Interface with development, marketing, quality control and production support groups on resolution of production problems.
Provide enhancements to support through automation improvement of process / development of new tools. These tools are utilities that can be developed to automate processes using UNIX scripting, Oracle SQL, and Batch files.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of UNIX (HP-UX or Solaris) experience and production support experience is required.
3+ years programming experience in Perl or Korn Shell is preferred.
Knowledge of Unix OS shell scripting, , DOS, Batch scripting and SQL programming in Oracle.
Must have experience in system monitoring and debugging.
Must have experience using Trouble ticketing system, more specifically REMEDY.
Ability to multi-task and capable of working closely with multiple groups with minimal supervision.
Ability to react calmly
