Mui text editor and better string updates

Hello,

For those who haven't learned about these latest versions, there are mui
updates available for MCC_BetterString (ver. 11.8) and MCC_TextEditor
(v15.18), available at,

I can't say (yet) if there any implications for improved operation of
IBrowse, but the updating of one or both of these has fixed a crash
problem I had with YAM, both with the '030 and '040 systems. The problem I
had previously was that YAM would severely lock up and even damage the
system requiring validating the hard drive after the crash. The crash
would occur when adding a new address to my addressbook, saving, and then
clicking on a different folder and attempting to open/read one of the
messages in that folder. The crash could be averted by re-opening the
current message before switching to a different folder.

But with these updates the crash problem no longer occurs. In hindsight I
suppose I should have installed one update at a time and perhaps I would
have narrowed down which one was the fix, but that didn't occur to me
until I realized that the crash problem was cured.

Anyhow, I'm just glad the crash problem is fixed.

This is not relevant to IBrowse, since it uses neither of these classes.

Well then it should!
The form editor really isn't any good. Can't even copy text in it. Only
good thing is the E-button
And the Newstring which is its own commodity - What that about??

But I heard the editor got improvments and fixes for IB2.4, right?

Correct.

We weren't going to switch to BetterString and TextEditor when the source was
not available, as we'd just cause further problems. As Jens has since managed
to resurrect the source for them, we will evaluate them for IB3 - BetterString
is almost guarenteed - NewString is awful
