I can't understand this argument at all.

The copy buffer is overwritten when you make a fresh copy, whether this
is done in a single action or needs a mouse movement followed by letting
go of the mouse and using both hands on the keyboard.

Why would it be more accidental one way than another?

Certainly I don't copy stuff by mistake.

Those in charge of OS4 have decided that it is far easier to accidentally
copy something to the buffer when it's just a mouse click & drag. maybe
it's their mice having sensative buttons, maybe it's 'fat finger syndrome',
we lesser mortals shall never know...

Hehe, I use a wacom tablet instead of a mouse and have for some
reason developed a nasty habit of randomly sweeping the pointer across
the screen while reading. Rather often I tap the nib down hard enough
to copy (or hit a link), replacing the stuff I had intentionally put in
the clipboard just a few seconds before, so some combinations of hardware
and hideous freaks with tics *can* result in mistakes.

I also often find myself highlighting lines of text (mostly in
tables) much in the same way many people read hardcopy with the aid
of a ruler.

Still, I wouldn't for my life want to lose the IB autocopy
feature, it's just to damned swift and handy and suits its environment
(the browser view, or why not ANY non-editable view?) perfectly.
