screen capture input plugin?

Hi,

 

We've been using here with lot of success the helix
producer and helix
server. To capture the screen, we had only some success with
Camtasia
but it is a little expensive just to capture the screen. I
was wondering
if helix producer SDK has an API that would allow adding a
screen
capture plugin to directly feed the capture screen to
producer instead
of using a fake directshow driver.

Hi Erik,

ScreenWatch, in a way will plug directly in.  Although, it
is quite a bit
different architecture than what you are thinking.

We took the approach to make an encoder like function and
bring the helix
producer into it, since once you combine screen content, you
really are
talking about rich media.

Turning Screens into video though, yields poor quality and
high bandwidth,
or acceptable quality with really high bandwidth.  A better
solution is to
send deltas of the screen as they change (if they change)
and encode
them...... (Which is what we do)
