Preserving clipping paths

I want to convert tiff images to smaller sized tiffs.  The
each tiff  
has several clipping paths and I would like those transfered
to the  
reduced tiff files.  I've looked through old list mail and
IM  
documentation and it seems like IM will transfer the
Photoshop  
resources which hold the clipping paths... but how do I do
this?  Can  
I use "convert" or do I need to use the c-api?
