I’m using “compare” to check differences between two bitonal
(bi-level) BMP files.
ie., one bit per pixel.
The files are identical except for a few bytes in the
header. (Verified using a
hex editor, and with the DOS “fc” command).
Even so, the compare command yields a distinctively
non-blank output image –
It looks like a faint, washed-out copy of the original.
I’ve tried these options: -depth 1 -type Bilevel …. to no
avail.
Is this normal behavior? It sure doesn’t seem right to me,
but I’m rather a
newbie at ImageMagick.
Why does “compare” produce an RGB output file when comparing
two
bitonal input files? How did the output get to be
shades-of-gray, when
the input is bitonal?
