selection of polygon shaped regions

Hello,

how can I numerically select polygon shaped
Regions of Interest with pixel x,y-coordinates
for example
P1: 20, 30
P2: 221, 30
P3: 121, 204

Programs like ImageJ have a polygon selection tool,
that can be used in scripts with such an numeric input;
is there something in IM?

I want to select geometrical exact polygons like an
equilateral triangle from an image, copy them and
save them with a transparent background as a new
picture.
